So what is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?
The philosophy is based on the fact that situations can not cause a specific reaction, but our thoughts about these situations can. Is there a link between how we think and how we feel. Our response follows our thoughts. Changing our thoughts can change our reaction.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy focuses on cooperation and active participation of the patient. Initially it emphasizes on here and now and seeks to teach the client how he/she can be the healer himself/herself, teaches him/her to recognize, assess and respond to dysfunctional thoughts and beliefs using a variety of techniques.
This kind of psychotherapy covers a wide range of mental states (anxiety, depression, panic, phobia, obsessive compulsive disorder, bereavement, bulimia, anorexia, couple therapy, personality disorders) where the sessions are structured and the length of treatment time limited.
